Things I have learned from my Toddler #4

I have learned that if there is a door within 50 feet, it will be slammed.  As loud as is humanly possible.  And will conclude with a “YAYYYY!!!” and clapping of toddler hands.  *eyeroll*

I have learned that carrying an 812 pound diaper bag is normal.  Even though my brain tried to tell me it was Abby.  I also learned that when I tried to take a quick jaunt out of the house withOUT my 812 pound diaper bag, I of course needed diapers, wipes, toys, sippy cup  AND the baby Tylenol.  *sigh*

I have learned that now that Monkey is now an almost 22 monther… he is a “big kid” now.  Apparently this means that if I don’t let him do everything himself… and I mean E V E R Y T H I N G, then he will throw himself on the floor and proceed to kick and scream giving every indication that he is being mauled by a bear.    This extends to but is not limited to getting his own snack traps and sippy cups, throwing his diapers away, closing the blinds at night and naptime in his room, and most recently… wiping his own P.K.G. with a baby wipe.  Which I am cool with as long as he doesn’t turn into his mama and start liking that sort of thing at a young age. *ahem*

I have learned that if I ever want to do anything on the computer again, I have to have Monkey sitting in my lap while at my desk, with an ice cold beverage of his choice and a snack on standby.  This has become our regular activity when Mommy wants to feed her blog and social networking habit work on the computer.

I have learned that even though I am trying to get things done on the computer and frustrated that Monkey keeps touching EVERYTHING within reach, like every key on the keyboard, the mouse, my glasses (while on my face) and pens and paper, and moving around and standing and sitting and standing and sitting and standing and sitt… ahem… anyway… all it takes is one little hug from him when all he wants at that moment is to cuddle with his Mama and the whole world fades away and I am putty.  Putty I tell ya.

I have learned that something as fairly minute as a slightly chipped tooth on my toddler can bring me to full on sobs.  This is especially odd, when the completely uninjured toddler sits staring at you like… “wtf ma?”

That’s it for today.

What have you learned from your kids?

Hope everyone had a fab holiday!

xoxo!

What if…

…my stepdad hadn’t gotten sick?

Would my Mom be happy now?  What would my sons name be?  Would I have gone to that Christmas party in his place and met my husband?

…all of my past pregnancies had worked out?

I would have 6 kids with a 7th on the way.  But would any of them be my perfect Monkey?

…we had stayed in Denver and decided not to move to Texarkana?

Would we still be living in a tiny apartment and sending Monkey to daycare each day?

…my ex hadn’t been such a douche?

Would I have still left him and found the love of my life?

…the guys at the plant hadn’t seen a sap while I was pregnant?

Would I still have taken Daisy home with us even after Hubby protested?

Watching this Flash Forward lately has me thinking.   Some people really believe that our life is a pre destined set of events.  I don’t know that I believe that.  Sometimes maybe I do a little but for the most part I really don’t.

I have always said that everything happens for a reason.  I really believe that.  Not because of some pre-mapped life but because I think that everything makes something else occur.  If any of the what if’s above had happened, then my life wouldn’t be where it is right now.  It would be changed and different.

Would I have missed the opportunity to meet my husband if my step dad hadn’t been too sick to go to the Christmas party because of Chemo?

If I hadn’t had miscarriage after miscarriage, would I even be with my husband now if I had 3 kids with my ex?

Would I be able to afford to stay home with Monkey each day if we hadn’t taken the opportunity to move here?

It all boils down to 3 very simple statements.

I have a wonderful sexy husband that would do anything for us.

Our son is truly one kick ass baby boy.

Our two fur babies will always have my heart.

This is my family.  Even if it is in this town that I hate, this is my family.  And if any of those what if’s had come to fruition, would I be in these shoes now?  It’s scary to think that I wouldn’t be.

What events could have kept you from where you are now?  What are you truly thankful for?

Throw the Beer in the Lake Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

If you want to play along with Random Tuesday Thoughts, go here to get the widget and add your name to Mr. Linky.

We went puttering around the mall on Sunday and came across a dude in a red suit.  So we thought we would see if Monkey wanted to sit on the strange guys lap and take a picture.  Sounds normal right?  HAHA

Monk did GREAT on Santa’s lap.  This Santa was the sweetest man!! Monkey went right to him!  It was really neat.  He wasn’t really dressed for the occasion but I did wipe the pizza off of his face before the picture, so that’s something at least, right? haha

Here is the picture.  I did edit the contrast and saturation a little bit.  You know me, I can’t help myself.  Besides, now it’s gobs better.  Trust me J

I was really surprised that he didn’t cry or anything.  He went right to him.

I am still debating on whether or not I want to tell Monkey there is a Santa.  I have this whole weird issue thing in my head with lying to my kid, even if “all the cool moms are doing it”.  I just want him to like the idea but not think that if he is “naughty” then the dude will show up with coal.  Ya know?

Thoughts?

~~~~~
I am making a Turducken for Thanksgiving.  Anyone ever had one?
I am changing it up a bit and leaving out the duck.  And the chicken.  *grin*
What? *blink*
That was funny.  *pbbbbt*
~~~~~

I think I know why people always say I have slapstick humor. Its because they want to slap me with a stick when I am trying to be funny. *shrug*

~~~~~
Another case of Hubby sleep-talking this week.  It always provides a giggle.  This one is sure to please…
Hubby (eyes still closed): “Throw it in the lake!”
Me (as usual, taken off guard): “Throw what in the lake?”
Hubby: “The beer!”
Me (stifling a giggle): “The beer?”
Hubby: “Yes.”
Me: “Umm… why would I throw beer in a lake?”
Hubby (clearly frustrated): “UH! Becaaaause it failed the breathalyzer!!”
Me (confused): “Wait… who failed the breathalyzer??”
Hubby (suddenly confused and calm): “umm… I dunno, I think the beer did”
Me (pushing for fun, heh): “Why did the beer take a breathalyzer?”
Hubby: “…………”
And he was out.  Lol
Good times.
~~~~~

Military helicopters in groups of six have flown over my house four times since I wrote this.  Why does this give me the heebies?

~~~~~
My dear friend Amanda entrusted me with her Grandmothers Spaghetti recipe.  We had it last night (Sunday night since I again wrote this blog a day ahead) and it was DELICIOUS!  But I really wish she had warned me about the effect it would have on all of us.  It sounded like there were 2 motorboats in my bed last night.  And there was another one in Monkey’s bed too.  I know because I kept hearing it on the monitor.
~~~~~

Speaking of my ass (yet again) it’s healing really well.  You know what happens when you start to heal?  You start o itch.  Like crazy!! I just wanna stick both my hands in my pants and scratch my butt like crazy!!  But that would look funny and mostly likely elicit stares not to mention it would be the 2nd worst thing I have done this week.  The first of course was luring that spider into my pants with my super inviting, sexy fanny.  Hows that for TMI?  Wait, this isn’t TMI Thursday you say?  *grin*

What is random about your day?

Unamuzed Daily Photo Blog

She is unamused.  I am thinking her train of thought was going something like this… “would you get that damn thing out of my face so I can get back to my nap!” I left out the expletives.  LOL

*Love* vol 2

The lovely DC Princess does a weekly blog called I LOVE Fridays.  I was inspired by reading her posts each week to write one similar last week called *LOVE*.

I so enjoyed doing the *LOVE* post that I think I might make it a regular event.  Not sure yet but we shall see.  It won’t be on a specific day because, well I have too many days devoted.  And I just can’t commit to that kind of pressure.  HAHA

I won’t however be restricting myself to only “Things” today like I did last time.  Just whatever comes to mind.  Yay!  (say Yay, you know you want to) 🙂

Here goes….

I *LOVE* that my ass is all healed!! YAY!!!  (what a freakin’ nightmare that shit was!) SHEEZ!

I *LOVE* that I got soooo many comments, emails, phone calls and messages from people telling me how much I was missed last week!  I was shocked and honored.  And now I have a big head.  Yay!!

I *LOVE* my Jacuzzi bathtub.  Yay!

I *LOVE* that we got all of the shopping done for Thanksgiving today!  No more crazy crowds.  Yay!

I *LOVE* that I got awards from AMAZING bloggers this week.  Thank you Carma Sez!  Thank you Stuperhero Extraordinaire!  And a very belated thank you to MommyBrain and Rudy Family Rukus!   All are great, please check them out.  Yay!

I *LOVE* that someone rushed out of Wal-Mart with such hunger to getiton that they just whipped ripped their “Ecstasy” Trojans out of the box and left the box in the parking lot.  Yay!

I *LOVE* that I stopped to take a picture of the empty Trojan Box thinking ahead that I just had to share my jealousy excitement with all you poor, unsuspecting readers.  *grin* Yay!

I *LOVE* Entourage!! I just started watching it and have made it through to the middle of season 4.  I can’t believe I ever missed this show!!  It is sooooo good!  Yay!!

I *LOVE* that the weather is finally getting cooler.  Wearing long pants is much more socially acceptable when you go 4 weeks without shaving. Haha  Yay!!

I *LOVE* that December is so close now I can taste it!  Because it means TWO things that I *LOVE* are coming.  #1 The holidays!  (and my house gets uber awesome decos for the holidays) And #2 our next round of injections!!  Yay!

I *LOVE* these Suds.  If anyone knows how I can get in touch with them so that they can come to my shower and entertain cheer me on I would surely appreciate it!  Yay!

I *LOVE* Saying YAY!!!!!  🙂

about moi…

Hi, my name is Cass. I am married to an amazing man who loves me unconditionally. I’m a stay at home mom to a rockin’ 2 year old boy who I call Monkey. I have an 12 year old step-daughter who lives in another state. We miss her daily. We also have two fur babies, Daisy and Jazz, who keep us on our toes. They are awesome!

I am a complete goofball, a photographer and a constant out loud thinker. I am a grammar challenged, vulgar, cursing, sex obsessed Big Mama fumbling through life. Among other things, I battle PCOS causing infertility, Bi Polar, Anxiety and OCD.

Currently I am riding the fertility roller coaster in an attempt to make Monkey #2. This blog is about a little of everything. I hope you enjoy. Read at your own risk!
